~ REDRUM ~

RELEASE
PERIODS : S1 OCT 2016 + S2 OCT 2017 + S3 AUG 2018 + S3 AUG 2019 + S1-3 FOIL DEC
2020

The
Horrorible Kids Series 1 set was released during the later half of 2016, on October
24th. The entire set was created by artist Mark Pingitore who sketched and painted
all eighteen characters to create a thirty-six, twin-card parody release poking
fun at the horror film genre. The creative title

is a play on the words ‘horror’ and ‘horrible’. The first print run set, containing
one asterisk, * © 2016 MARK PINGITORE PRTD. IN U.S.A.,
was posted to his Magic Marker Art website for $55, along with an already established
inventory of t-shirts, art prints, original artwork et cetera. The set was initially
part of Pingitore’s Slop! Culture Kids clothing line from March 2016 and started
out as a small set 5×7 artwork on 7×9 card of seven characters with twin images
as ‘Horror A’ set. The ‘PEEL HERE‘ vinyl stickers have an
ingenious tombstone-esque die-cut which is a nice reminder of early Garbage Pail
Kids releases with special sticker die-cuts. Pingitore’s titles and products are
wonderfully influenced by the 80’s nostalgic toy and cartoon era.

The
Horrorible Kids Series 2 set was released one year after the first installment
on October 12, 2017 right in time for the Halloween season. The eighteen-card,
nine-character set is numerically sequential to the first set and was released
along with other Horrorible Kids products including three premium enamel pins
and a sticker sheet collection of previous characters. The first print run set,
containing one asterisk; * © 2017 MARK PINGITORE PRTD. IN
U.S.A.
, is limited to 100 sets and sold for $35. The ‘PEEL
HERE
‘ vinyl stickers have an ingenious tombstone-esque die-cut which
is a nice reminder of early Garbage Pail Kids releases with special sticker die-cuts.

The Horrorible
Kids Series 3 set was released ten months after the second installment on August
1, 2018. The series was released in box and wrapper form with an available binder
— a first for the Magic Marker Art parody lines — as a pre-order prior
to August. The 90-card, 45-character set encompasses a re-release of the HK1 and
HK2 sets on vintage-style cardstock format along with the new HK3 material; previously
only available as vinyl stickers. The first print run set contains one asterisk;
* © 2018 MARK PINGITORE – MAGIC MARKER ART, LLC. The
‘PEEL HERE’ stickers continue to have an ingenious tombstone-esque die-cut with
a refreshed logo and reverse card backs that pay tribute to the OS3 and OS4 Garbage
Pail Kids ‘WANTED‘ posters artwork; also a first for the
Magic Marker Art parody lines.

A 2nd print run pre-order of Horrorible
Kids Series 3 ran on the Magic Marker Art website for one month, from June 1,
2019 through June 30, 2019, and was available starting on August 9, 2019. Instead
of boxed packs as the 1st print run, this was a mini-box release with just the
full set with brand-new puzzle backs. Per the MMA website, each box came with:
A full 90 card Series 1-3 base set (45 characters, each with an “a”
and “b” alias), 2nd Printing (trademark line; * ©
2019 MARK PINGITORE – MAGIC MARKER ART, LLC
), Vintage style cardstock (die-cut
stickers!), and BACK ART (puzzles).

A foil card pre-order
of Horrorible Kids Series 1—3 dropped on social media as a ‘SURPRISE
RELEASE
‘ on November 27, 2020, and was available by mid-December. At the
same time, a foil card pre-order of Horrorible Kids Series 4 was also available;
both costing $100 each, but could be picked up on Black Friday for $150, or $175
starting on November 28, 2020. These were mini-box releases with just the full
set that included brand-new puzzle backs. Per the MMA website, each box came with:
A full 180 card Series 1—3 and Series 4 foil sets (90 characters, each with
an “a” and “b” alias), a limited run of 150 sets, vintage-style
cardstock (die-cut stickers!), a spot foil mini box, and BACK ART
(Puzzles).

Tom Bunk where the eyebrows are raised, rather than changed for the card image
(see the OS7 section for the case study) where they were thickened. The Horrorible

seven characters with the slightly different ‘Masked MICHAEL II’ name. The artwork
for Micheal Myers has the character holding a retro plastic pumpkin candy pail
used for Trick-or-Treating; a horrible feeling when the plastic strap broke.

—
The character is taking Hallowe’en to heart and is sporting a Star Trek
get-up for the special evening. In Halloween, Michael Myers wears a Captain
Kirk mask that’s painted white. For the card, Michael is also wearing a ‘command’
uniform often seen sported by James Tiberius “Jim” Kirk; captain of
the starship USS Enterprise. “Captain Kirk” is wearing an uncharacteristically
popped or upturned collar and flashing his friend’s, Mr. Spock’s, Vulcan salute
sign.

•

7a
SILENCED LAMBERT
= Silenced
lamb; the movie title stems from the fact that after slaughter, lambs are silenced,

who eats the flesh of other human beings.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—

seven characters with the same ‘Cannibal HANNIBAL’ name. Originally created for
Gallery 1988 for their Crazy 4 Cult : Say Hi To The Bad Guy collection titled
‘Fava DEAN / ChiANDY’.

— The image perfectly portrays Hannibal Lecter
with his restraint mask (biter mask), in a straight jacket and strapped to an
appliance dolly for transportation. — Hannibal is wearing a special 2-striped
OS1 pink colored CPK/GPK shoe.

same name. def’n: Seductive – To be tempting and attractive;
enticing. Irresistible, exciting, sultry, provacative, sultry, alluring, sexy,

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The artwork image showcases actress Selma Hayek who plays Santánico Pandemonium
(aka Esmerald or Kisa) taking center stage during her snake dance scene
while all hypnotized eyes are on her seductive curves.

— The carnivorous,
albino Burmese python, one of the five largest species of snakes in the world,
is seen using its sharp rearward-pointing teeth to seize the character’s arm,
bypassing constriction altogether.

— Sharp teeth are often given
to ferocious characters in comics and cartoons; or, is a tell-tale sign that the
character has vampire-like qualities.

— The character became an art
print in July of 2016 in the Magic Marker Art store with the same two names that
was created for a Gallery 1988 group art show.

•

9a

liquid obtained from a particular source. informal. To liven something
up.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The insufferable character of Beetlejuice is seen sitting on the grave tombstone
from which he is summoned from, partaking in a nightcap of his own namesake essence;
juice of the beetle (or Betel). The titular character of Beetlejuice is only seen
on screen for a total of 17 minutes out of the 92 minute film. — The R.I.P.
tombstone, dirt mound and color scheme for the card is reminiscent of John Pound’s
OS1 character for cards 5a ‘Dead TED’ and 5b ‘JAY Decay’; both being graveyard
residents. The tombstone may have been the inspiration for the vinyl sticker die-cut
shape used for the Horrorible Kids cards. — Betelgueuse, Betelgueuse, Betelgueuse
(aka Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice)!!!

•

10a
GOOD GUY
=
‘Good-guy’; Good Guy doll — the opposite of ‘bad guy’.
Horror film description:
Child’s Play (1988 slasher) – The movies all center around Charles
Lee Ray (aka Chucky), a notorious serial killer known as the “Lakeshore

Good-guy – informal. A hero. An all-around pleasant person. def’n:
Good – Having the qualities required for a particular role. That which is

specific name Brad with the word ‘bad’.
Horror film character description:
Bradford Claude “Brad” Dourif – The actor who voices the
Chucky character in the Child’s Play films, best known for playing Billy
Bibbit in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Gríma Wormtongue in
the Lord of the Rings trilogy. def’n: Bad – Of poor quality
or a low standard. def’n: Bad guy – (especially in a work of
fiction) A villian or criminal.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The character can be seen wearing his Good Guy gear but also brandishing a knife,
Chucky’s implement for choice meat cuts and cursing like a sailor (someone who
is foul-mouthed and uses bad language all the time). — Inspiration for Chucky’s
stance and waving fist comes from the OS3 GPK character 106a ‘Fowl RAOUL’ and
106b ‘MACK Quack’ painted by John Pound. Both images feature the skull and cross-bones,
shouting vibration, star, swirl, exclamation point and electrical zap symbols.
— Although the Good Guy doll has brown shoes with three white stripes (akin
to the Adidas trademark), the Horrorible Kid can be seen wearing a special color
edition CPK/GPK shoe with two stripes (Shoe Branding Europe BVBA trademark).

•

11a
TELLY KINESIS
=
‘Telekinesis’.
Horror film description: Carrie (1976 supernatural/horror)

and has a bucket of pigs blood dumped on her at prom. Her mother accuses her of
being a satanic witch. def’n: Telekinesis – The supposed ability to

foreshadowed this predicament) showing off her telekinesis powers.

—
The character’s telekinesis abilities are so advanced that she even has the capabilities
to move the card nameplate, header and number.

•

12a
JIGSAW PAUL
— Semi-rhyme;
the specific name Paul with the word ‘jigsaw’.
Horror film & character
description: Saw (2004 crime/horror) – Victims trapped by a sadistic
serial killer nicknamed ‘Jigsaw’ who must complete his perverse puzzles in order
to live. Paul Leahy – one of Jigsaw’s earliest victims who must escape a
maze of razor wire and is seen in flashbacks in future installments. def’n:
Jigsaw – A puzzle consisting of a printed picture on cardboard and cut into
various pieces of different shapes that have to be fitted together.

12b
JUMBLED JOHN
— The specific
J
name to go with the word ‘jumble(+d)’.
Horror film character description:
John Kramer – A distraught but successful civil engineer who survives
an inoperable brain tumor and suicide begins to test others’ will to live by placing
them in deadly traps. His character is nicknamed “The Jigsaw Killer”
or simply ‘Jigsaw’ by the media. def’n: Jumble – To mix up in
a confused or untidy way.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The character is seen depicted as living up to his nickname of ‘Jigsaw’ by literally
being assembled with jigsaw puzzle pieces. Per Saw canon, those victims that failed
the “games” or “tests” would have a jigsaw-shaped piece cut
from their flesh to represent they were missing “the survival instinct”.
— The image plays pinpoint accurate homage to the OS4 GPK character 149a
‘REESE Pieces’, 149a ‘Puzzled PAUL’ and 149b ‘Incomplete PETE’ to the point that
almost every piece piece is identical; however, the HK’s right lower face and
left hip pieces are intact whereas the GPK character’s pieces are not placed.
— It is puzzling to note, that Pound’s pieces are placeable; the upside down
wasteband and shirt piece can be placed and the held shirt-armpit piece goes in
its place. In Ping’s puzzle, the upside down piece does not match the robe (it
would have a red stripe down the center) and the held piece should be black to
fit in its place.

•

13a
DARK NESS
=
‘Darkness’.
Horror film character description: Lord of Darkness – also
known as the Dark Lord or simply Darkness is the master of the underworld and
the main antagonist of the cult classic fantasy movie Legend. def’n:
Darkness – The partial or total absence of light. Wickedness or evil.

13b

—

from both detroying daylight and marrying the woman he loves. def’n:
Legendary – Remarkable enough to be famous and very well known. Of, described
in or based on legends.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
Although the movie doesn’t actually state it, but Darkness’ father is presumably
Satan… which makes sense due to the two large horns protruding out from the
sides of the Dark Lord’s head, the cloven hooved feet, sharp chompers, yellow
snake-like eyes and blood-red, inflamed skin (when it’s not blue).

—
The Lord of Darness is shown holding a staff for promotional images for the film,
however it is never displayed in the actual film.

•

14a
TALL MANNY
=
‘Tall man’.
Horror film character description: Tall Man (aka Jebediah
Morningside) – Is the main antagonist of the Phantasm horror movies.
He’s portrayed as a mortician with superhuman strengths; telekinetic, shapeshifting,

known only as the Tall Man who keeps a lethal arsenal of terrible weapons on his
body. def’n: Phantasm – A figment of the imagination; an illusion
or apparition.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The Tall Man character is portrayed telekinetically “holding” a ‘sphere’
as it hovers over his hand. The iconic mortician utilizes these flying metallic
spheres or “Sentinels” that conceal inside them offensive weapons, including
blades, drills, lasers and even circular saws. The spheres are considered to be
the Tall Man’s signature weapons; they contain and are controlled by the shrunken
brains removed from ‘the Lurkers’.

— Note that the pictured sphere
also has (a fork and) a toothbrush; any kid’s secret fear.

•

15a
ABNORMAL NORMAN
—
Similar sounding name, Norman, to go with the word ‘abnormal’.
Horror film
character description: Norman Bates (Norma Bates) – The main antagonist whose

her new husband, Joe Considine; Norman slowly ‘becomes’ his mother. def’n:

young man under his controlling mother. def’n: Psycho – A psychopath.
def’n
: Psychopath – A person suffering from chronic mental disorder
with abnormal or violent social behavior.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The Norman Bates character can be seen holding both his favorite shower-scene
murder weapon and his mother’s skull; wearing his mother’s nightgown and a wig.
Minus the slight rosy cheeks, it’s wonderful to see a black and white painting
to go with the B&W movie. — The inspiration for the piece is twofold;
Norman does keep his mother in a rocker in the basement as she ‘talks’ to him,
but the image is also a shout-out to OS1 GPK character 35a ‘Wrinkly RANDY’ and
35b ‘Rockin’ ROBERT’ painted by John Pound who is feebly holding a walking cane
instead of a butcher’s knife. — The ‘rocking’ vibrations of the downward
stroking knife is great. Like Leatherface, the character was inspired by the crimes
of real-life murderer Edward Theodore “Ed” Gein (The Butcher of Plainfield).

•

16a
RANDY CANDY
— Rhyme;
the name Randy with the word ‘candy’.
Horror film description: Candyman
(1992 slasher/horror) – The Candyman, a murderous individual witha hook for
a hand, is accidentally summoned to the reality world by a skeptic grad student
researching the killer’s urban legend. The Candyman was an artist and son of a
slave who had his hand severed before being murdered. def’n: Candy
– A sweet ‘food’ made with sugar or syrup combined, sometimes combined with
fruit, chocolate or nuts. def’n: Bait – To prepare (a hook,

SWEET PETE
— Rhyme;
the name Pete with the word ‘sweet’; Sweet Pete’s Candy. def’n: Sweet
– Having the pleasant taste characteristic of sugar or honey. British.
A small shaped piece of confectionery made with sugar; sweets.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
After the character had his painting hand severed off and replaced with a hook,
he was smeared with honey taken from a local apiary prompting the locals to chant
“Candyman” as hungry bees stung him to death. The character is known
to open his coat revealing his chest cavity (or ribcage) full of bees.

—
The candy and bees bring to mind the idiom: sweet like honey, stings like a bee.

•

=
‘Pennywise’ the clown.
Horror character description: Pennywise (aka
It, Mr. Robert “Bob” Gray and Pennywise the Dancing Clown) – The

a liquid or the air; to drift. def’n: Clown – A comic entertainer,

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
Although Pennywise can be seen with a multitude of balloons, the yellow one he
holds in the storm drain is the most popular. There is also a famous float quote
in the book and movie where the kid believes Pennywise is talking about boats
and balloons floating, but in actuality, he’s talking about dead bodies.

—
Notice the humorous ‘pinky up’ or ‘pinky out’ while holding the strung up balloon;
refers to tea etiquette and class; nowadays connotes elitism. Some individuals
do this naturally or out of habit.

—”Want your boat, Georgie
… and a balloon? … they all float down here.”

“REDRUM” scrawled on the inside of the bathroom wall by the son Danny
is seen through the bathroom mirror by the mother where she sees that it reads
the word “MURDER”. A plot device that Stephen King used in his novel
The Shining.

19a GHOSTFACE
CHASE

Disconnected.
def’n: Disconnect – To break the connection

party to a call after the remote party hangs up or disconnects the call.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
As depicted in the painting, the killer’s signature weapon is a buck knife —
a knife used during hunting excursions for preparing the game to be used as nourishment
by skinning and removing the organs.

— The character is comically
seen talking into a disconnected landline telephone… not a phone call with a
disconnect tone, but the handset receiver cord jack being unplugged from the actual
phone. The character is also seen sporting some spiffy CPK-esque shoes
with OS1-like pink stripes.

20a
+ P1a LOST BOYD
=
The Lost Boys; characters from the 1987 horror comedy film.
Horror film description:
The Lost Boys (1987 comedy/horror) – Two Arizona brothers who move
to California and end up fighting a gang of young vampires. The title is a reference
to the Lost Boys in J.M. Barrie’s stories about Peter Pan and Neverland, whom,
like the vampires in the movie, never grow up. Peter Pan syndrome. def’n:
Lost – Unable to find one’s way; not knowing one’s whereabouts. Something

THE

David:
“How are the maggots?”

Michael Emerson: “Huh?”

David: “Maggots, Michael. You’re eating maggots. How do they taste?”

21a JAWY
PAULY
— Semi-rhyme;
the name Pauly with the word ‘jaw+y’.
Horror film & character description:
Jaws (1975 thriller) – A large, man-eating great white shark attacks
beachgoers off of Amity Island, a fictional New England summer resort town.
def’n
: Jawy – Relating to the jaws. def’n: Jaw – (plural

21b GREAT
WHITEY
= Great white (shark).
def’n: Great white shark – A large, very aggressive shark of
warm water (seas), with a brownish or gray back, white underparts and very large,
triangular teeth.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The character is seen depicted with a massive, great white, killer smile —
not in the least bit mechanical. The bloodwork and the helplessly waiving hand
is similar to the jaw-snapping Venus flytrap mouth found within the GPK OS3 set
for cards 105a Juicy JESSICA and 105b Green DEAN painted by artist John Pound.
— The overall open-water feel of the HK2 image is not the same, but very
reminiscent of the OS9 GPK character 354a CLARK Shark and 354b MANNY Eater, also
painted by artist John Pound. The GPK flesh-colored shark is seen feasting on
a human hand, attached to a limb, presumably attached to an entire body. A fishing
hook war-wound is seen embedded in the lower lip of the angry looking character.
The HK2 character does show a few war wounds of his own but things are going swimmingly
as he happily munches on his second breakfast. — Collectors may recall Pingitore’s
other Jaws-inspired GPK image for the 2014S1 set for cards 20a Jawin’ JULIE
and 20b Da-Da DONNA.

•

22a FRED
A. TOR
= Predator.
Horror
film & character description: Predator (1987 science-fiction action

22b UGLY

Motherf*cka!
Horror film character description: One of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s
character, Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer’s famous lines in the film.
def’n
: Jumble – To mix up in a confused or untidy way.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The Predator character (aka Yautja) is seen with his signature dreadlocks
— but not ‘bald’ on top, fully expanded mouth, showcasing his wrist blade
weapons and dragging the knocked out Queen alien from the movie Alien by
the tail; a nice shout-out to the Alien vs. Predator famous battle in the
film from 2004. — The swapped characters (Predator/Queen aliens) and mirror
imagery layout doesn’t exactly copy it’s GPK counterpart, but instead pays respectful
homage to the wonderful OS2 characters 55a Hairy GARY and 55b Brutal BRAD painted
by artist John Pound, especially when compared to HK2 cards 23a GINA Morph and
23b Alien AILEEN.

•

23a GINA

— Aileen, similar-sounding
A name to go with the word ‘alien’.
Horror film character description:
Queen alien (aka Queen Mother, MU-TH-UR 6000) – An eusocial alien

roll in the follow-up movie Aliens and Nostromo‘s computer is named
Mother, the ship’s main computer. def’n: Alien – Belonging to
a foreign nation, world or galaxy. def’n: Extraterrestrial –
Of or from outside the earth or its atmosphere.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The Xenomorph character is seen with her signature inner jaw, a rigid phallic
tongue, spitting acid from her ‘maw’ and dragging the knocked out Predator alien
from the movie Predator by his dreadlocks; a nice shout-out to the Alien
vs. Predator
famous fight in the film from 2004. — The swapped-characters
(Queen/Predtor aliens) and mirror imagery layout doesn’t exactly copy it’s GPK
counterpart, but instead pays respectful homage to the wonderful OS2 characters
56a Hairy CARRIE and 56b Brutal BRIDGET painted by artist John Pound, especially
when compared to HK2 cards 22a FRED A. Tor and 22b Ugly EM F’er. The character
is fisting the crop of hair, much like the previous comparison for GPK card #55.

SUE
= Rinse — or possibly,
Ringu (the Japanese title), or both.
Horror film description: The Ring

version. An urban legend revolving around a videotape and whoever watches it dies

corprse crawling out of a well. def’n: VHS – Video Home System.
a videocassette recording (VCR) technology that was developed by the Japan Victor
Company (JVC) and put on the market in 1976. def’n: Well – A
shaft sunk into the ground to obtain water.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The Ring movie consists of a plain ‘wishing well’ surrounded by rock whereas the
HK2 image portrays a covered well with a well bucket — in this case, the
bucket being a metal cleaning bucket. The bucket is used to draw water from the
well by means of a rope and pulley or windlass (a type of winch). The drowned
victim has been winched up by her long hair. — The well image is a tribute
to, at the time unpublished, GPK OS16 cards 651a Dunkin’ DUNCAN and 651b WILL
Hung painted by artist John Pound. The GPK image shows an edited version of the
character being pulled out of th well with the rope under the armpits of the character,
the original tight pencil and color rough (and possibly final) shows the rope
around the character’s neck instead. This may have been too graphic.

•

25a ELLE
VIRA
= Elvira.
Horror
film show: Elvira’s Movie Macabre (1981 horror movie presentation) –
An american acctress, Cassandra Peterson portrayed the horror hostess character
Elvira for many sesasons. The television show aired B-grade horror movies with
Elvira and other guests (like ‘The Breather’) that acted as commentators. def’n:

and snake charmer; an attractive and engaging character used to impress and manipulate.

•

26a RAY

received an X rating. def’n: Reanimate – To restore to life or consciousness;

HERBERT
— Herbert; a
specific character name to go with the word ‘heinous’.
Horror character description:

the film series that injects a special solution to reanimate a deceased person’s
mechanical functions. The subjects turn violent and wreak havoc on the community.
The fictional character was created by H.P. Lovecraft for his short story ‘Herbert
West—Reanimator” first published in 1922. def’n: Heinous –
A wicked or odious person performing a wrongful act. Horrific, terrible, awful,
detestable, abhorrent, loathsome, hideous, unspeakable, reprehensible, despicable,
abominable, monstrous, etc.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The painting pays a wonderful tribute to the movie poster of the Re-Animator
film with the catchphrase “It will scare you to pieces.” The image minimizes
the number of scientific apparatuses and focuses more on the act of the ‘mad scientist’
injecting the “special solution” into the head of a once-dead victim.
— Much like the movie poster image, the artwork is also heavily lit from
underneath throwing objects above and in back into shadow and showing a heavy
light on the underside of the face and washing out the clothing. The piece is
highly reminiscent of the OS2 GPK character 72a Mad MAX and 72b Brainy BRIAN painted
by artist John Pound, seen manhandling a brain instead of a head, and a similar
looking syringe needle that has drawn blood or brain fluid instead of injecting
a special serum.

•

KEN PSYCHO
= American Psycho.

Dead
movie franchise. Horror film description: The Return of the Living
Dead
(1985 horror comedy film) — A warehouse owner and accomplices (not

onto an unsuspecting town. His name was coined because his ‘melting’ muscles looked

thick and flammable liquid distilled from wood or coal used in roadworking and
for coating and preserving timber.

28b LIVING
TED

connected franchise of zombie apocalypse movies centered around outbreaks and
survivorists. def’n: Living dead — in fiction. Reanimated
corpses that have been turned into creatures capable of movement but not rational
thought; zombies.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
As depicted in the painting, the zombie is covered in tar, in the literal sense,
with an empty bucket of liquid tar in the near background. The character’s gruesome
skeleton and skull can be seen under and around the poured dark liquid. —
The messy image is a tribute to GPK OS2 cards 79a Sewer SUE and 79b MICHELLE Muck
painted by artist John Pound. The GPK image shows the character in the same slouched
stance, weighed down by the mass of garbage on her shoulders, completely covered
in raw sewage and dripping the hazmat (hazardous materials) as she slowly ambles
along. Two flies can be seen within both artwork images and hands dribbling the
filth and grime.

Behead — To cut off the head of someone, typically as a form of execution.
def’n
: Embalm — To preserve a corpse from decay; to mummify, lay out.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The character is seen contently displayed within her shrine, built by Jason, in
a shack deep in the woods. Her token blue sweater is laid-to-rest in front of
her, as though she’s wearing it, with lit wax candles throwing flickering light
and dark shadows on her mummified head and short cropped, blonde hair. Heavens
to Betsy! — Although not a direct tribute, the artwork is reminiscent of
the shrunken head character for GPK OS3 cards 119a NED Head and 119b Still JILL
painted by artist John Pound. Although sewn shut, the piece shows the character’s
face with the same closed, heavy eyelids and a slight smile at death, which oftens
happens when rigor mortis sets in and wrinkled, dried-up skin.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The original concept for ‘Iron Maiden’ was created in 2011, during the GPK Flashback
period, by Pingitore during his Topps days but not selected by the company. The
tight sketch shows a similar looking character but having a sharper, more edgier
feel and structure sitting upon a thick base with less blood spilling forth. The
suggested nomenclature was IRA Maiden, which stuck, and ‘Iron AIDEN’. — The
HK3 image shows the iron maiden torture device sporting a curvier, more rounded,
shape and shell, with full-length body doors and the victim’s right arm still
attached. The character’s body shows several puncture wounds and some red-striped
CPK shoes to match.

face. After his revival by the mystical crow, he takes on the gothic mantle of
the Crow and is then guided by the crow to seek revenge. The crow giveth (life)
and taketh away (eyeball). — The character is reminiscent of GPK OS4 cards
131a Stuffed STEVEN and 131b RUTHORFORD B. Hayes painted by artist John Pound
as far as both characters having a crow perched on their arm and having had their
left eye plucked out by the said crow, the HK‘s brown eye and the GPK’s
blue eye.

(one currently missing), is grasping his bag of goodies, and chomping on a pumpkin-face
sucker while creating a sharp-edged weapon from the half-bitten lollipop; also
seen within the advertising for the movie.

— The original rough concept
had far less destruction to the burlap sack and only exposing one monster eyeball
with the pumpkin sucker reversed, and the bite mark facing the character’s mouth.
The original nomenclature was jotted down as ‘Trick R. PETE’.

of terror. A yelp.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

The B&W character is seen crouched over and hunched, creeping along with his
killer claws and bucked, pointy teeth. In the silent film, this is in jest of
the iconic scene of where just the shadow of Count Orlok is seen climbing up a
staircase, but in this case, the shadow is showing the vampire’s cute side and
making a bunny rabbit, shadow puppet — figures that are placed between a
light and screen and created using the fingers and hands through movement.

— The card image itself is on a grayscale, a range of gray shades from white

passages, is seen being held by the main protagonist of the Evil Dead franchise,
Ash Williams, identified by his iconic blue button-down shirt; specifically from
the first film when the demons are released and he still has two hands.

— The artwork is given a classic GPK-like gaping grimace mouth and shows
the smoking release of “The Kandarian Demon”, a force of pure evil,
that controls the dead and Deadites in the movies. The two blood drips seen within

Kramer (aka The Jigsaw Killer or Jigsaw), the main antagonist, sitting
on his knee. Billy is depicted with his trademark black tuxedo, white face, shirt
and gloves, and red cheek spirals, bow tie and pocket handkerchief. However, instead
of his red Mary Janes shoes he’s sporting some red-striped CPK shoes. —
The character is a wonderful tribute piece to GPK OS4 cards 152a Whisperin’ WOODY
and 152b VAN Triloquist painted by artist Tom Bunk. The dummy is holding the vantriloquist
entertainer with a Freaky Friday type scenario of places being swapped.
Pingitore’s HK3 image also has the person usually pulling-the-strings and in control
sitting on the dummy’s lap.

37a GORGON
MORGAN
— Rhyme; the
name Morgan with the word ‘Gorgon’.
Greek mythology character: Gorgon —
One of three sisters, Stheno, Euryale and Medusa, containing snakes for hair,
a thick tail hind end, and possessing the power to turn anyone who looked at them
to stone. From the word ‘gorgos’ meaning terrible. def’n: Gorgon —
lowercase. A fierce, frightening, mean, ugly or repulsive woman.

37b MADI
-DUSA
= Medusa.
Horror
film description: Clash of the Titans (1981 heroic fantasy film) —
A retelling of the Greek mythological tale of Persues and his battle to save the
Princess Andromeda. def’n: Medusa — A mythological creature or monster,
of the Gorgon race, often described as a winged human female with living venomous
snakes as hair and anyone gazing upon her face would be turned to stone. Eventually
beheaded by the hero Perseus.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The original concept for ‘Medusa/Gorgon’ was created in 2013, around the BNS period,
by Pingitore during his Topps days but not selected by the company. The tight
sketch shows a similar looking character sporting a different style of sports
bra and writhing in front of two broken, Greek columns. The suggested nomenclature
was ‘Medu SUE’ and ‘BLAIR Glare’. — The HK3 image shows Medusa being the
victor over Perseus and holding his stonified head as he holds Medusa’s in the
Clash of the Titans movie. Although their is a GPK Gorgon-like character
within the OS3 series, this is more of a direct parody. — The Gorons, a recurring
rock-eating race in the Legend of Zelda series, is a play on the Greek word Gorgons.

•

38a MANIAC
MATT
— Matt; specific
M name to go with the word ‘maniac’.
Horror film character: Matthew
Cordell (aka Maniac Cop, Officer Matt, Matt, Officer Cordell, et cetera)
— The main protagonist and villain of the Maniac Cop franchise.
def’n
: Maniac — Exhibiting extreme symptoms of voilent and dangerous
behavior.

38b COPPER
HOPPER
— Rhyme; the
name Hopper with the word ‘copper’; a shout-out to Chief Jim Hopper of the Stranger
Things
science fiction thriller and 80’s-themed TV series. Horror film description:
Maniac Cop (1988 slasher thriller film) — Three New York police
officers search for a killer in uniform who should be stone cold dead and buried.
def’n
: Copper — informal. A police officer; law enforcement officer.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The killer cop character is seen in full uniform flashing his police badge, referenced
as a ‘badge of silence’ in the third film which is reminiscent to the ‘blue wall
of silence’ code, an internal and informal rule among officers not to report a
colleague’s errors, crimes or misconducts. The mugshot matches the time period
after the first film once his waterlogged face is more rotten and decayed.

— The color rough artwork for the copper concept shows the dead man in blue
holding a black billy club instead of the patrol rifle that’s seen in the final
artwork and sketched out on the color rough. The billy club (aka cudgel, baton,
night stick, etc.) is highly suggestive of his bad-cop ways and police brutality
tendencies.

•

39a RAGGEDY
ANNABELLE
= Raggedy Ann;
a name parody of the popular rag doll with red yarn for hair and a red triangular
nose, also pictured within the HK3 artwork theme. Horror film character: Annabelle
the Doll (aka Annabelle, Annabelle Bullins, Annabelle Higgins, Bee, The
Demon, The Devil, The Doll) — The secondary antagonist of The Conjuring
and the titular antagonist of its Annabelle prequels. A powerful demonic
and evil entity that often latches onto the possessed porcelain doll to torment
its owners. def’n: Ragged — To be tattered and torn; in a worn out
state Well played with; threadbare.

39b DOLLY
PARTING
= Dolly Parton; a
name parody of the country singer & bussinesswoman. Horror film description:
Annabelle (2014 mystery thriller) — A satanic cult of devil worshippers
invade and launch a violent attack upon a couple’s home summoning a demon via
a bloody rune that indirectly turns the doll into a conduit of pure evil. def’n:
Dolly — A child’s word for a doll; a small model of a human figure used as
a toy. def’n: Parting — The action of being separated or the
act dividing something into parts.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The character is seen wearing her aged vintage white dress with pink accessories
and accents, including her black shoes sporting CPK-like pink stripes. The sinister
character is forcing a smiling, blood-red and white ‘Raggedy Ann’ doll into a
meat grinder, complete with hand crank and table clamp. — The character is
a wonderful tribute piece to GPK OS1 cards 18a Cranky FRANKIE and 18b Bad BRAD
painted by artist John Pound, but most specifically, the original concept and
color rough for the character that was revised to the GPK doll shredding several
similar colored school books into the grinder for the final artwork and printed
card image. Pingitore’s image adds a splash more of red slasher blood to the artwork
and finished product.

•

40a TWIN
TARA
— Tara; non-specific
T name to go with the word ‘twin’.
Horror film character: Grady Daughter
#1 & #2 — The two girls in blue that character Danny Torrance sees while
riding his tricycle in the Overlook Hotel’s West Wing. def’n: Twin —
Something consisting of two matching or corresponding parts. One of two children
born at the same time. Two very similar items.

40b DOUBLE
V. SHANA
= Double vision.

Horror film description: The Shining (1980 horror film) — An isolated
winter hotel stay where an evil presence makes the father go psychotic and the
son become psychic. def’n: Double vision — The simultanous perception
of two images of a single object.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The double-your-pleasure doublemint twin characters are iconically pictured as
they are seen within the movie; placed at the end of a hotel hall in their blue
dresses, with white lace and pink ribbon; holding hands and looking hauntingly
mysterious. The image is fleshed out with similar-looking wallpaper with simpler
blue flowers adorning the walls. Although the sisters are two years apart, 8 and
10, families often dressed their offspring in similar, matching fashions in the
60s (and other eras).

— Artist Mark Pingitore’s tight pencil artwork
foretells the foreshadowing of the shadows on the floor and the wonderful flower
arrangement on the walls. The original nomenclature for one of the twin-like girls
was jotted down as ‘Double V. SHAUNA’ instead of ‘SHANA’.

•

41a THING
JUAN
= ‘Thing One’ parody
name; twin brothers from The Cat in the Hat book.
Horror film description:
The Thing (1982 horror film) — A group of researchers in Antarctica
who encounter a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form that assimilates organisms.
def’n
: Thing — An object that is not given a specitic name. Item, object,
et cetera.

41b THING
STU
= ‘Thing Two’ parody
name; twin brothers from The Cat in the Hat book.
Horror film description:
The Thing (1982 horror film) — A shape-shifting parasitic creature
that has the ability to absorb and copy any life-form it consumes for adaptation.
def’n
: Thing — An inanimate material object, living creature, plant,
et cetera.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The character is seen standing within a snowstorm in the South Pole, an uninhabitated,
ice-covered landmass. ‘Thing One’, the larger thing, is nicknamed ‘Blair-Thing’
after devouring Blair, the Senior Biologist. The movie monster is identified by
its enormous body mass, a pair of jaws fused to the human head, canine parts emerging
from the chest and multiple tentacles and disjointed arms from its body. The facial
feature on the creature is in a frozen state of agonized terror, but the Horrorible
Kids character is smiling happily. ‘Thing Two’, the smaller thing, is called ‘Norris-Thing’
after assimulating the geologist Norris; seen in his third and final form after
detaching it’s head for self-preservation reasons; it possesses a serpentine,
spider-like body with arthropod-like appendages.

•

42a MARK
OF THE BEAST
= Mark of the
Beast (fka Number of the Beast).
Horror film description: The Omen
(1976 horror movie series) — Some not-so mysterious deaths surround an ambassador
after he adopts a child that could be the Antichrist. def’n: Number of
the Beast — A term from the Book of Revelation (13:11-18) that states the
Beast of Revelation comes marked with the number 666.

42b DEMON
DAMIEN
— Damien; specific
D name to go with the word ‘demon’.
Horror film character: Damien Thorn
(aka the Beast, the Antichrist) — The main antagonist of The Omen
series; the Antichrist and son of the Devil. def’n: Demon — An
evil spirit or devil; one thought to possess a person or act as a tormentor in
hell. Mischievous; devilry.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The little devil is seen pictured deep in the bowels of Hell with cross graveyard
markers in the background. The demon child is pictured in his Sunday’s best clothes,
with his token black hat and sporting some new CPK shoes with fitting red stripes
to match is demonic eyes. Born on the 6th day of the 6th month at 6a.m.; 666.
— Original concepts noted with the nomenclature ‘MARK D. Beast’ and ‘Devilish
DAMIEN’. — The character is a devilishly brilliant tribute piece to GPK OS2
cards 64a Hot SCOTT and 64b LUKE Warm painted by artist John Pound. Both characters
are being licked by Hell’s flames, sporting demon horns and a red forked tail,
and holding a trident staff. Both with a furrowed brow and an evil grin.

•

43a BATTY
BETTIE
— Bettie; specific
B name to go with the word ‘batty’.
Pin-up model character: Bettie
Mae Page (aka Queen of Pinups) — An American model that gained a significant
profile in the 1950s for her stylized pin-up photos. def’n: Batty —
To be crazy; insane. Eccentric, peculiar, loopy, ditzy, bonkers, etc. def’n:
Batty — A noctorunal mammal with membranous wings capable of flight.

43b PINUP
PAIGE
— Paige; specific P name to go with the combined words
‘pin-up’.
Pin-up model character: Bettie Mae Page (aka Dark Angel)
— Having a cult-myth persona & pop culture ‘figure’ with jet-black hair,
blue eyes and her trademark fringe. def’n: Pin-up — A poster
showing a famous person or sex symbol designed to be pinned up (pushpins, tape,
et cetera) and displayed on a wall.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The famous ‘bond’-age girl and blue-eyed bombshell is seen posing and modeling
a tie-front top 2-piece swimsuit with her trademark jet-black fringe that accentuates
her fair light skin. The young bat (as opposed to an ‘old bat’: a woman regarded
as unattractive or unpleasant) takes on the role of a very pale vampire with bat-like
wings and sharp fangs dripping a good amount of blood on her pallor mortis-like
skin condition.

— Although the character isn’t exactly a tribute
piece to any specific GPK image, it’s reminiscent of OS13 cards 511a Puffy BUFFY
and 511b Busty DUSTY, painted by artist John Pound, who’s seen modeling some post-training
bra and stretched-out, fiber-tested pajamas.

•

44a FURRY
FRANK
— Frank; a specific
F name to go with the word ‘furry’. Pingitore’s original concept rough
and tight pencil artwork had the nomenclature ‘Futuristic FRANK’. Horror film
character: Frank the Rabbit (aka simply Frank or Frank Anderson) —
A member of the ‘manipulated dead’ who guides the main protagonist Donnie Darko
character into various misdeeds but also eventually correcting a timeline mishap.
def’n
: Furry — Covered with fur. informal. An animal enthusiast
who dresses up in costume (cosplayer-like) with anthropomorphic behavior; human
traits with animal needs.

44b PETER
ROTTENTAIL
= Peter Cottontail.
A name parody of the fictional character, Peter Rabbit, popularized by the 1950
song, 1957 novel, 1971 television special, et cetera. Horror film description:
Donnie Darko (2001 science fiction) — An angst teenager is plagued
by visions of a man wearing a large bunny suit who’s manipulated into committing
crimes but eventually into correcting the Tangent Universe’s parallel timeline
issue. def’n: Rotten — Morally corrupt. dishonest, unscrupulous, immoral,
untrustworthy, etc.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The anti-hero is standing erect in a CPK-like stance with blue-striped CPK shoes
and an evil gleam in his eye; a literal facial expression denoting amusement or
the knowledge of a secret. This is no Petter Rabbit, no Petter Cottontail, no
Engergizer Bunny… but a little like the troublemaker Bugs Bunny (carot, rabbit
hole and all). The rabbit hole not present before the final artwork stage.

— Frank’s powers basically include the ability to travel through time in
order to save the Primary Universe from destruction and speaking with the Living
Receiver (Mr. Darko), but his villainous character also contains the personality
trait of being corruptive by influencing others to commit petty crimes such as
vandalism, arsony and accidental murder. A jacked-up rabbit.

•

45a INVISA-
BILLY
= Invisible.
Horror
film character: The Invisible Man (aka Dr. Jack Griffin) — The titular
protagonist and brilliant research scientist ‘appearing’ in the 1933 movie based
off of H.G. Wells’ 1897 novella The Invisible Man who was a potential psychopath
before the discovery. def’n: Invisible — Unable to be seen or detected;
not visible to the eye.

45b WHERE
ARE HUGH
= Where are you?

Horror film description: The Invisible Man (1933 science fiction horror)
— A chemist discovers the secret of invisibility, unfortunately, with a murderously
insane side effect. def’n: Where are you? — Requesting someone’s whereabouts;
usually repeatedly uttered and asked if blind or in total darkness, but also to
someone who’s invisible.

THE
TERROR-IBLE TRUTH:

—
The original concept for the ‘Invisible Man’ was created in 2012 for the Topps
GPK Magnet set that was single-handedly painted by Pingitore. The tight sketch
shows a similar smoking pipe with bubbles gag and upside-down sunglasses (large
dark goggles in the film), but portrays the character in the stolen trench-coat
and hat that makes him visible again, although he wraps his head in bandages to
conceal his invisibility or to reveal himself to others. — The HK3 artwork
shows the character sporting his velvet smoking robe or jacket, white glove(s)
and neck scarf, but also sporting a pair of blue jeans and CPK shoes with red
stripes. The bandages are wrapped more like the movie character, up over the bridge
of the nose.

The first seven cards in the eighteen character set were initially released as
limited edition Art Prints under the ‘Slop Culture
Kids’ moniker; they were posted to Mark’s website in March of 2016 for $70 and
have since then sold out. A few of the character’s names have slightly changed
to the sticker line and Jason Voorhees has been given his mask to wear. The first
time Horrorible Kids became available on sticker in sheet format was in the middle
of 2016 also under Pingitore’s ‘Slop Culture Kids’ clothing line (t-shirts) with
the ‘Horror Kids – Series 1’ title. The package came ‘3 Sticker Sheets’ for $10.
The eighth custom SCK image that found it’s way into the set was for cards 8a
Dusk Til DAWN and 8b Seductive SELMA that was specifically created for the Gallery
1988 group show ’20 Years Later’ that ran from July 1st through July 16th, 2019.

•

—
The Horrorible Kids T-shirts were available for Pingitore’s
aforementioned ‘Slop Culture Kids’ clothing line starting in October of 2016.
Six different T-shirts were available in great dark colors; they were available
on the Magic Marker Art website for $20.

•

—
Prior to the Horrorible Series 1 release on during October 2016, two months prior
in August an Enamel Pin of 4a CHAIN SAUL was available
for purchase for $13 from Cavity Colors website who partnered with Pingitore to
release the limited edition quantity of 150 pins (which sold out fast). The second
enamel pin released by Magic Marker Art is 1a ADAM N. Evil from the Disasters
of the Universe set with the pin backing being an ingenius replica of the card
back; albeit, downsized to pin-size. The “ChainSAUL” pin was advertised
as a sneak peek on Magic Marker Art’s Facebook page.

•

—
The unofficial, online Promotional Material in the
form of electronic pictures acted as ads for the Horrorible Kids Series 1 on social
media in early October of 2016 for a Hallowe’en release date. The initial ad ran
on Mark Pingitore’s pages had the ‘HALLOWEEN 2016‘ tagline
and portrayed three previously published characters; note that 4a Chain SAUL and
4b Mass A. CARL now have a blue nameplate; the purple nameplate does not appear
in the set (bummer). The second and third ‘sneak peek’ preview ads were exclusive
ads that could be found posted to GPKWorld and GeePeeKay social media pages and
websites for the new images of 17a PENNY Wise and 18a Axin’ JACKSON, respectively.
The ‘HALLOWEEN 2016‘ was changed to ‘OCTOBER
24, 2016
‘ for the actual and updated ad for both images. A decent price
tag of $55 for the set; a great price when considering an independent release,
vinyl material, die-cuts and some profit.

•

—
A Sneak Peek of the first vinyl card in the series,
1a Momma’s BOYD, as seen on top of the stacked set was posted to Magic Marker
Art’s Facebook page in anticipation for the upcoming Horrorible Kids Series 1
release. The circular sticker in the bottom right hand corner seals the protective
wrap on the backside of the ‘pack’. The 36 sticker (18 character) set was released
on 10/2016 and sold for $55 with 200 *1st print run sets printed.

•

—
On April 29th, 2017, the Magic Marker Art website posted a limited edition pack
of 8 MAGNETS for $15.00
with a print run of only 150 per subject under the Slop! Culture Kids moniker.
The 1st Series set contains four characters from the Disasters of the Universe
set with a castle diecut, two characters from the Horrorible Kids set with a tombstone
die cut, and two characters from the G.I.JOKES set with a dog-tag die cut. The
cardboard packaging is modeled after a nostalgic Topps GPK wrapper with a logo,
a yellow background, ‘STICKERS‘ in bold with a white background,
a series announcement (starting after the OS1 set) and ‘5 STICKERS
• 1 STICK BUBBLE GUM
‘ printed at the bottom.

•

—
Magic Marker Art (aka Mark Pingitore) took to Instagram on May 4th, 2017,
to post a pin poll to see if collectors would care to see the character image
for cards 1a Momma’s BOYD and 1b Crystal LUKE realized as an Enamel
Pin
. A pin for 4a Chain SAUL had been previously released in 2016. A picture
of the produced pins was posted to social media on June 19th, 2017 and stated
that they would be available for sale on June 22nd, 2017, the same day as the
Disasters of the Universe Series 3 set; limited to 150 pins printed.
NOTE:
the 2021 enamel pin differs greatly; hinged mask, no puddle, double-stacked header,
etc.

For a limited time, the
Threadless website offered a Momma’s BOYD T-shirt starting on May 18th, 2017,
that had a nice OS1-like pink border outline around the character.

•

—
An ad was placed on social media on June 12, 2017 for the Horrorible Kids Series
2 set, which is planned to be released in October of 2017 along with advertisements
for two new Parody Sets by Magic Marker Art; Trash
Former Series 1 to be released beforehand in August of 2017 and Star Warped Kids
Series 1 to be released afterwards in November of 2017, both being humor sets
poking fun at the Transformers and the Star Wars franchises, respectively.

•

—
An early Horrorible Kids Series 2 image was posted to social media on June 28,
2017 to promote the painting being a part of the Gallery1988 art show in July
and stated a Promo Card would be available opening
day. The P1a Lost BOYD card image is a parody of the 1987 thriller movie titled
The Lost Boys focusing on the David character, played by Kiefer Sutherland,
during the infamous Chinese take-out scene. The promo card will be available at
a later date through the Magic Marker Art online store (TBA).

•

—
Magic Marker Art (aka artist Mark Pingitore) took to social media, including
Instagram, on July 22, 2017 to announce that a third Horrorible Kids soft Enamel
Pin
would be produced and released for the 5a HAL Raiser character; limited
to 150 pins printed. The pin was released along side the Trashformers Series 1
cards on August 24, 2017. NOTE: the 2021 versions is slightly
larger to match the other pins, with a slight color change and a double-stacked
header.

•

—
A tight pencil and partial ink preview for two potential soft Enamel
Pins
were posted to social media on August 15, 2017. Thus, adding to the
Magic Markers Art product line, most specifically to the popular pin line. The
two characters are 3a PIA Soup and 3b Compelled CHRISTY from the Horrorible Kids
card set plus 1a Commandin’ BRANDON and 1b LEE Der from the G.I.JOKES car set.
This would be the fourth enamel pin for the Horrorible Kids line. On September
18th, two additional pins were pictured with only the card backs for 4a Chain
SAUL and 6a Masked MICHAEL. The three Halloween-advertisted pins were eventually
released on 10/12/2017 for a $27 bundle or $10ea; all three limited to 150. This
would be the second, slightly different release for 4a Chain SAUL, previously
released by Cavity Colors a year ago. NOTE: the 2021 restocked
pins have a double-stacked header.

•

—
Starting in late mid-August, the Magic Marker Art social media pages started to
tease collectors of the impending follow-up parody release with a few Color
Rough
sneak peeks on 08/18/2017, an Alien/Predator parody with an OS2 image
twist and 09/06/2017, The Ring parody image. In the midst of this, on August
29th, all nine Horrorible Kids 2 color roughs were displayed.

•

—
The Original Concept for The Ring parody gag
of Pingitore’s may stem from the 2006 release of the ANS5 GPK set by Topps that
was not chosen for the set but may have become the inspiration behind cards 24a
Ring SUE and 24b VEE H.S. within the Horrorible Kids brand.

•

—
On September 14, 2017, the Mock-up Card image for
Horrorible Kids 2 character GINA Morph (= xenomorph) was posted to social media
as card 23a for the upcomingseries. The card contains a wonderful OS2 John Pound
shout-out and the set continues the wonderful tombstone baring die-cut.

•

—
At the beginning of October two Sneak Peek images
were shared on social media to advertise the upcoming Horrorible Kids Series 2
release. On 10/03/17 the ream of circular stickers image was posted, and on 10/04/17
the ‘pack’ image was posted. The circular sticker in the bottom left hand corner
seals the protective wrap on the backside of the ‘pack’. The 18-sticker, 9-character
set was released on 10/12/17 and sold for $35 with 100 *1st print run sets printed.

•

—
The third Horrorible Kids item that posted on 10/12/2017, and the second Sticker
Sheet
installment for Magic Marker Art, contained two 5×7 sticker sheets
of nine characters from the Horrorible Kids Series 1 set, but different from the
first ‘Slop! Culture Kids’ sticker sheet of six characters originally titled as
simply ‘Horror Kids’. The package itself pokes fun at marked-down product found
in yesteryears at K·B Toys (known as Kay Bee Toys until 1997 — closed
in 2009) with a price tag sticker titled ‘Kray Zee’, the item is humorously marked-UP,
contains the evil number-of-the-beast ‘666’ and the recommendation ‘For ages 45
and down’. The sheet was first hinted at as a Photoshop mock-up image posted to
social media on September 6, 2017.

•

—
Magic Marker Art showcased several Rough Sketch ideas
on 12/09/2017; Pingitore: “I’ve been busy working on commissions this month,
but also taking some time to plan for 2018. Each of my sets start as rough sketches
to visualize my ideas, and I jot down some names. I choose the ones I like and
arrange them in a way that is visually pleasing. Here’s a look at some roughs
from four different upcoming 2018 sets (G.I. Jokes, Nintendopes, Thunderbrats,
and Horrorible Kids)!” A Horrorible Kids Series 3 is on the horizon
with a potential Annabelle (The Conjuring series) character parody.

•

—
Magic Marker Art announced on 01/11/2018
that a seventh Horrorible Kids soft Enamel Pin would
be produced and released for the 17a PENNY Wise card character; limited to 150
pins printed. The pin contains a whopping number of thirteen colors and the pin
mock-up portrays a brand new Horrorible Kids stacked header not seen before; although,
the backing board contains the older header. The pin officially went on sale on
01/31/2018 of the new year. NOTE: the 2021 restock has a
double-stacked header.

) for $10.00 each. The 2nd Series card 20a
and P1a Lost BOYD character poster is a limited edition of 50 copies and signed
by the artist, Mark Pingitore.

•

—
The first Horrorible Kids Series 3 Color Rough sneak
peek was posted to social media on March 27th, 2018, a parody of The Crow
movie, just days after the HorrorHound Weekend artwork. The second sneak peek
was the severely slanted image for Tarman CARMEN (character pictured further below)
on top of a stack of eighteen color roughs on April 5th, 2018 and the third and
final color rough sneak peek occured on Friday the 13th of April showcasing the
severed head of Jason Voorhees’ mother sitting on her creepy shrine.

•

—
On April 5th, a small pile of Horrorible Kids Series 3 color roughs were pictured
on social media, only displaying a parody image of ‘Tarman’ on top. On April 6th,
2018 the card mock-up for 28a Tarman CARMEN was disclosed showcasing the new stacked
Horrorible Kids header, previously seen on the PENNY Wise enamel pin color chart,
the sketch card cardstock and the Lost BOYD poster. On April 11th, 2018 a Wrapper
image was revealed showing the rendered artwork of the Tarman CARMEN character
and hinting at the possibility of HK3 packs, with 5 stickers per pack.

•

—
On Wednesday, April 18th, MMA posted a sneak peek at ‘The Return’ of the Horrorible
Kids that showcased a mock-up Display Box and mock-up
packs and stated ‘Full Details and Pre-Order in May’. Although the display box
depicts card image placeholders, the artwork of HKS1 adn HKS2 will be included
within the new release. The box will contain 24 packs and the packs will contain
5 die-cut stickers with 90 different cards to collect.

•

—
Per Pingitore, “Some alternate box designs that I played with before deciding
on Tarman.” You can see the evolution of the early mock-up display Box
Designs
from the earliest template with the HK1 4a Chain SAUL character
sawing through the ‘90 CARDS TO COLLECT‘ and purple spattered
box color, to the HK2 20a Lost BOYD character with a black box color and blue-logo
spattered background, and finally to the box starring the new HK3 28a Tarman CARMAN
character that kept the black addition and the orange image background giving
the box a wonderful Hallowe’en feel.

•

Inch Sticker
would come free with every Horrorible Kids Series 3 pre-order

and the main mascot for the release, a parody of Tarman. A decal sticker has not
been seen from Magic Marker Art since the Slop! Culture Kids He-man/Skeletor mash-up
characters from May 2016 that was also included free with pre-orders; the character
was later seen within the Disasters of the Universe release.

of character, 29a Preserved PAM, was posted to social media for Mother’s Day on

All good things must come to an end … Magic Marker and its affiliate, artist
Mark Pingitore, posted a fifth and final Horrorible Kids Series 3 Product
Ad
to social media on 06/04/2018 to notify collectors that the pre-order
deadline ends on June 11, 2018 and would be the last day to place an order for
the much anticipated HKS3 set and the HKS1 and HKS2 re-releases on new card stock.
On 06/05/2018, Pingitore posted the card mock-up image for the previously released
6a Masked MICHAEL character showing the new stacked Horrorible Kids header and
new trademark line that adds ‘– MAGIC MARKER ART, LLC‘.

•

Magic Marker Art announced on 06/07/2018 that an eighth Horrorible Kids soft Enamel
Pin
would be produced and released for the upcoming, amazing and oozing
28a Tarman CARMEN card character. The pin mock-up portrays the brand-new Horrorible
Kids stacked header recently seen on the 11×17 mini-poster and HKS3 advertising.
The pin officially went on sale on July 17th and could be added to pre-existing
box pre-orders. The pin backing board has the tar on the left-hand side redacted
and the nameplate mislabeled as TARMAN Carmen instead of Tarman CARMEN; corrected
for the final product.

A nineteenth HK3 concept rough made it well into the conceptual phase of pre-production
titled ‘RAHUL Ghoul’ but pulled prior to the tight pencil artwork statge and remains
Unpublished. The piece was a parody of the 1984/5
comedy horror film Ghoulies where the main movie poster displayed an image of
a toilet with a ghoulie standing inside of it, holding a martini. The plot involves
a couple moving into an old mansion where the young man unleashes small demonic
creatures during a ceremony at a party for a joke. Had a plunger been a part of
the concept, it would be very reminiscent of the OS1 painting by artist John Pound
for cards 14a Potty SCOTTY and 14b JASON Basin. It is unkown whethere the image
will make it into any future release.

—
Pingitore’s brilliant HorrorHound mascot image created
for the Aug. 24th-26th 2018 show and found its way on the backside of issue #70
March/April 2018 of the HorrorHound publication, was placed on a ‘HH2018’ HORACE
Hound promo card that was handed out at the show with any purchase and could be
obtained after the show with any online purchase; while supplies lasted. The artwork
is now officially part of the Horrorible Kids releases, as part of Series 4, which
ties in quite nicely with the horrorible theme. The backside of the card shows
an ad for the Horrorible Kids Series 3 release showcasing a box, packs and singles.
More information on the HorrorHound character can be found within the Horrorible
Kids Series 4 page.
