The
NPD Department would create the revised artwork and card type but the Art Department
was in charge of the overall design and would produce the composition of the front
side and card backs, as well as the promotional material and packaging. Comp images
were generated to help guide the final card type design and artwork placement.
The mash-up mock-up for ‘FATSO‘ contains generic straight
lines for most of the card type and copyright line; the original Wanted Stickers
title would eventually become ‘FAT SLOB’ for the OS4 set. The image showcases
the OS3 ‘PRINCIPAL‘ final artwork image by Tom Bunk, albeit
the character is sporting a brown suit instead of green. The ‘WANTED
FOR GROSS NEGLIGENCE‘ is misspelled with the word ‘CROSS’ and would eventually
become ‘FOR GROSS NEGLECT‘ for the aforementioned OS4 card
back. A notation at the bottom of the sheet reads ‘COMP FOR GENERAL
LOOK ONLY‘ and applied to both the OS3 and OS4 reverse card design. The
NPD Department would give feedback at a later stage and eventually give the final
‘okay’.

by a wooden bamboo “pointer stick” for rapping students’ knuckles; not
seen within the Tom’s original color rough.

“Practicing brain surgery without a license” added to expand on the
name alias ‘The Butcher’. The image has been updated where the victim’s head has
been sheered off instead of a buzzed stripe. The original ‘BARBER’ had the butcher
still whistling while
he worked but had the pair of sheers-like scissors around the customer’s (aka
victim’s) neck about to cut off his noggin. The customer has nicks and cuts all
over his head, bleeding and per the color rough, hairs would’ve been added everywhere
— as is seen on the final card.

OS1 cards 9a Boozin’ BRUCE and 9b Drunk KEN highly suggest alcohol through imagery
and nomenclature, OS2 cards 47a Disgustin’ JUSTIN and 47b Vile KYLE were the first
images to have the ‘BEER’ label placed within the artwork — the 2011 Flashback
Series 3 removes this label, but the 2014 Chrome Series 2 images remain uncensored.
The original final artwork for the reverse OS3 card backs for 106a Fowl RAOUL
and 106a MACK Quack has the label removed for the final image and has ‘DELETE
BEER‘ written over the card proof; possibly to avoid any backlash concerning
alcoholism (… but “child abuse” is fine). Later GPK images sneak in
the suggestion of ‘BEER’ by using the word ‘rootbeer’. The ‘BEER’ label can also
be seen within the original color rough.
