Per GPK News, on August 14, 2025, “Did you miss it? … This year’s
online only release of 2025 Topps MLB Dynamic Duals features a super
short printed Garbage Pail Kids card. The Dead Ted/Cranky Frankie card
numbered SP-2 is a part of the non-MLB insert set. The card is also
available in an Orange /5 and Gold 1/1 parallel. Last year’s Dynamic
Duals set featured a GPK card, Adam Bomb/Nasty Nick. … The cards does
not show up on the posted checklist by Topps, no odds were posted for
the product either. No print run information is available for the product.”

Gross took to Facebook to subtly hint at the next GPK online release,

INTEResting. Looks like week 4-6 of…something. Which must mean weeks
1-3 are starting…next Thursday! (And no, it’s not the 40th set – that’s
coming soon!)” Gross was hinting at the upcoming online booster
sets for the InterGOOlactic Mayhem thematic set, that was released in
November 2023, with the word ‘INTEResting’, and showed an upside-down
stack of completed paintings, and outlined that his pieces would be
released during weeks #4 through #6, which means artist BRENT Engstrom’s
work would be released for weeks #1 through #3. The concepts sketches
were turned into Topps in late February, early March, and the final
images were completed in late March through early April.

On May 28, 2025, Topps
took to Facebook to announce their new, six-week release, stating, “Intergoolactic
Mayhem is back! Look out for a
new weekly offering every Thursday.“,
showcasing an advertisement sheet with artwork by BRENT Engstrom. As
with the recent online weekly sets, the advert shows a regular card,
a wrapper parallel chase card, and a gold foil wrapper parallel chase
card, for Wave 1, available 5.29 exclusively on Topps.com. NOTE: Unlike
the previous weekly release, the set title is not showcased under the
GPK banner for the chase cards, at least for the mock-up images.

Battle of the Bands: Green Day set is now taking pre-orders!! I helped
make Billie Joe, Tre’ Cool and Mike Dirnt even grosser than they ever
were! Don’t be an American Idiot… get your box [at Topps].” Around
1pm CT, artist JOE Simko took to social media to state, “Painted
this front box and a load of cards for this GPK x Green Day set. Pre-order
at Topps Officially licensed from Green Day.”, and around 1:45pm
CT, artist DAVID Gross posted to his social media channels, “NEW
Garbage Pail Kids X Green Day set is out at Topps.com. I painted 17
cards for the set including this one (FRYE Liner).”

Artist BRENT Engstrom posted to
his social media channels later that day, stating, “New GREEN DAY
Garbage Pail Kids set for sale on the Topps site right now! I painted
24 new card for the set.”, along with BILLIE Bad Mouth images.
Engstrom had two rejected concepts for the release… a Rock Band Video
Game concept (guitar GPK head) for the ‘Sweet Children’ subset with
Video Game JAMES & BROCK Band nomenclature, and an A’s Game concept
(band members as teeth) for the ‘Tribute to East Bay’ subset with the
nomeclature of Tooth LES & Mouth PHIL + Ballpark FRANK & NOAH
Hitter. The replacement for Tooth LES was a MIKE Dirnt concept (hitting
a baseball with his guitar) with the nomenclature of MIKE Strike, Ballpark
FRANK, and NOAH Hitter.

Also at roughly 1:45pm CT, on Tuesday,
August 06, 2025, Topps sent out a blast email with the title, ‘New Pre-Order:
2024 GPK Battle of the Bands – Green Day!’, with the body reading, “The
Garbage Pail Kids are hitting the stage with punk icons Green Day in
a one-of-a-kind card set that’s loud, messy, and full of GPK-style
mayhem.”

On the same day, Topps posted a second RIPPED article to their website,
that replaced the orginal article taken down, alongside several images
from the Topps & Green Day social media post, with the title ‘How
to Collect 2024 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Battle of the Bands: Green Day
Edition; Collector’s Guide to 2024 Topps GPK Battle of the Bands
Green Day‘. The body of the article read:
Garbage Pail Kids is going full punk with a set that’s as loud,
chaotic, and unforgettable as the band it celebrates. Garbage Pail Kids
Battle of the Bands: Green Day Edition is a tribute to the Bay Area
trio that helped redefine punk rock for a new generation. It’s
not just another parody-filled GPK release. This one blends rare live-action
cards, tour memorabilia, and some of the most sought-after autographs
the brand has ever produced. For collectors, fans of the band, or anyone
who remembers blasting Dookie in their bedroom, this set packs in nostalgia
and the thrill of the chase. Key Takeaways:
100-card base set: 50 gags x A/B Variants • Watch for live-action
Green Day SPs & 1/1 parallels • Triple autos limited to 25
copies—top chase cards.
GPK Battle of the Bands: Green Day Basics
— This GPK collecting guide covers base cards, parallels, and rare
chase variants in the 2024 GPK Battle of the Bands: Green Day set. At
the center is a 100-card base set made up of 50 gags, each with classic
A and B name variations. It captures everything you expect from Garbage
Pail Kids with humor, mayhem, and over-the-top artwork that channels
the loud and rebellious energy of Green Day. The cards twist the band’s
history, lyrics, and iconic album moments into outrageous GPK characters
that feel both ridiculous and spot-on. The set also includes ten different
parallels, giving collectors a colorful and layered chase filled with
rare and low-numbered finds. Whether you are ripping packs or building
a rainbow, there is plenty to enjoy before you even reach the inserts.
Inserts to Chase in the 2024 Green Day Set
— The inserts are where the product shines. The American Idiot
SPs are easily some of the biggest draws in the checklist. These are
live-action cards of the band members themselves, not cartoon parodies.
It’s one of the first times official Garbage Pail Kids cards have
featured real people without the exaggerated gags, making them standout
hits for crossover collectors who love both music and trading cards.
Another highlight is the Standing Room Only insert, a nod to all the
die-hard fans who save their ticket stubs after shows. These mock concert
tickets pay homage to Green Day’s most memorable tour runs from
their early punk roots through their stadium-selling years. Then there’s
the Dookie: 30 Years insert set, which is precisely what it sounds like.
It’s a messy, hilarious celebration of the album that made Green
Day a household name, packed with visual gags and callbacks that longtime
fans will instantly recognize.
Autographs & Live-Action Cards: Green Day
Edition — The autograph checklist takes things even further,
featuring some of the most unique hits ever included in a GPK release.
Triple Autographs, signed by all three band members, are limited to
just 25 copies and combine GPK-style character artwork with authentic
signatures from Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool.
For something even more exclusive, the American Idiots Triple Autographs
are numbered to only five and feature actual photos of the band, making
them some of the rarest GPK live-action autos ever produced. Adding
another layer of authenticity, the Triple Autograph Tour Relic set features
signed cards embedded with genuine tour-used memorabilia, including
guitar strings, drumsticks, and pieces of drum skins. These hits offer
a direct connection to Green Day’s legacy, merging punk rock and
hobby collecting in a way that feels both unexpected and totally fitting.
Conclusion: 2024 GPK Green Day Edition is a Thrilling
Addition to GPK History — Battle of the Bands: Green Day
is everything a Garbage Pail Kids set should be. It’s loud, it’s
weird, it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it manages to
capture the spirit of a band that’s always done things its own
way. Whether you’re in it for the laughs, the live-action, or the
rare signatures, this box delivers.
